The Junior League of Bryan-College Station

Message from the President

Dear League Members, Community Partners, Supporters and Friends,

Harvey Firestone once said the growth and development of people is the highest calling of leadership. For 34 years, our League has been a working example of this quote by developing leaders out of the ladies that join our organization simply to serve our community.  I have never been involved with an organization that is so supportive you simply cannot fail, because League is made up of a network of almost 400 strong, intelligent, passionate, and supportive women who want each other to succeed, thus sustaining the organization and our community.

Through our efforts, we improve our community, promote voluntarism, and develop the potential of women through the effective action and leadership of our members, who are trained volunteers.  This year we are improving our community and promoting voluntarism with our signature project, Stuff the Bus, participating in Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen, and by partnering with the Brazos Valley Food Bank, Junior Achievement, and the The Salvation Army.

Our League is such an amazingly unique organization because while we are working to improve the community, the organization is improving us through personal and professional development thus developing our potential! While we endeavor to improve our community, we gain skills from all different industries and trades: event planning, finance, fundraising, human resources, marketing, management, and everything in between – all by simply donating our time to improve the lives of children in the Brazos
Valley!

“Seeking to Serve, Learning to Lead” was chosen as this year’s theme to tell the story of the women who make up our organization. We joined League wanting to volunteer and serve this incredible community and emerge as leaders whether we plan to or not.

I invite you to join us as we live our Mission by attending our Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive, Charity Ball, and Bargain Blitz.  If you are interested in joining our League, please fill out a Potential Member Inquiry Form, and we will get you in contact with our Membership Development Chair.  And as always, we welcome support from our generous community with our various opportunities for sponsorship!  I look forward to meeting all of you while SEEKING TO SERVE AND LEARNING TO LEAD!

Sincerely,

Cassie Medlin
