Kids in the Kitchen
The Junior League of Bryan-College Station, Inc. – Kids in the Kitchen
League Members to Educate Children on Importance of Eating Well and Staying Healthy
Spring 2017 Event:
Saturday, February 25, from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m
(Cafeteria at Bryan High School Silver Campus)
The Bryan-College Station community is invited to attend this event. There is no cost to attend Kids in the Kitchen. Children will prepare five (5) healthy snacks, participate in an entertaining and educational craft and be encouraged to join in physical activities lead by a fitness instructor. They will also receive materials at the conclusion of the event to take home, including a recipe book with detailed instructions for the snacks they learned to make during the program.
The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. began the initiative in 2006 in response to the alarming statistic released by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention that nearly one-third of children and adolescents in the United States are overweight or at risk of becoming overweight. Now in its 10th year, Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen involves more than 200 Junior Leagues around the world with the goal of engaging kids in meal preparation and physical activity to educate them and their parents about nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices. Those interested in the international program should visit www.kidsinthekitchen.ajli.org for more information.
